18 NOVEMBER–23 DECEMBER

The Gdańsk Christmas Fair is now a tradition. In 2021, over its 5 weeks, it inspired everyone to have a magical time, captivating young and old alike. Millions of lights sparkled in the very heart of Gdańsk, with passersby happily enjoying delicious treats.
The Christmas Fair is an annual event and one of the city’s initiatives held under the We Are Lighting Up Christmas in Gdańsk campaign.
The Gdańsk Christmas Fair was the only such event in Poland to be nominated for the title of European Best Christmas Market 2020 and took third place!
Experience a unique Christmas atmosphere here and have the #BestChristmas   Everyone!

Brand New Streets
Following the example of last year, the distinctive cottage stalls will be located not only in Targ Węglowy (the Coal Market) but also in Tkacka and Bogusławskiego Streets. What’s more, the area of the Fair will be expanded to include a brand new location, the Forum Gdańsk Courtyard.
The expanded retail area makes for greater shopping comfort and better visibility of stands to visitors who can buy terrific gifts for their nearest and dearest here. The exhibitors in all four locations welcome you to their stands filled with wonderful handicrafts, local produce  and delicious dishes.

CHRISTMAS CORNERS

Moose’s Corner
A cottage with Lucky the Moose welcomed us in Moose’s Corner. The children’s friend came back to the Fair with his quips. All you had to do was stop and listen to what he had to say: no regrets there!
In a new twist, the Magic Igloo took us to another world, far away from reality. Winter in the summer, summer in the winter! And all for a good cause.
Moose’s Corner also introduced us to a new street at the Fair, Bogusławskiego Street, where thousands of lights lit up above our heads for the first time! The new street is a new location to shop for what you need at Christmas: unconventional items, made by hand and from the heart by the Fair’s artists and artisans.

Santa’s Corner
Santa’s Corner is a place where you could really meet the real Santa!
This is where the traditional Young Gdańskers’ Christmas Tree stood, decorated by the youngest residents of Gdańsk with hand-made ornaments.
The Venetian Carousel was a genuinely new and eye-catching feature. With last year’s  Christmas Fair in mind, it was specially made at an Italian manufactory. The Christmas Fair Carousel is different from the year-round Gdańsk Carousel located at Targ Węglowy (the Coal Market), as a faithful reproduction of a Venetian carousel.
Up on the stage, Santa’s Radiant Throne was another new feature of the Fair, to be found in Santa’s Corner. That is where the magic happened!
The attractions included a giant snow globe with an extra thrill: a special bike to guarantee there was no shortage of snow at the Fair.

Happy Corner
Happy Corner or, in other words, the place for real foodies! Food, drink, traditional mulled wine.
A feast at the Christmas Fair, where the glow of the lights, the permeating scent of mulled wine and delicious treats warmed up the cold winter days. Cuisines of the world alongside regional dishes.
Meetings with friends and a splendid time.
That is where we soaked up the real Christmas atmosphere!

Art Corner
Wielka Zbrojownia (the Great Armoury), a magnificent Gdańsk building and an example of Dutch Mannerism, also hides the magic of Christmas. Inside, you can often find works by students of the Gdańsk Academy of Fine Arts, which is why similar features will also be present during the Fair. Art Corner has something for everyone: unique jewellery, hand-made decorations and….a bear gate for kids! Come and see for yourselves!

The Story So Far
The year 2020 was different from those we had known in the past, which is why last year’s Christmas Fair was different as well. We welcomed all its fans to visit the Fair online. And what was it like before?
The Gdańsk Christmas Fair is now a tradition. Held by the MTG SA Gdańsk International Fair Co. in an in-person format for 30 years, it became more and more beautiful every year. Located in the historic heart of our beautiful city, it has been like a fairy tale in recent years. It is here, at Targ Węglowy (the Coal Market), where Lucky the Moose spoke in a human voice, the carousel with horses spun and, every day, new windows of the largest Advent Calendar in Gdańsk opened at the Advent Gate. Picturesque parades of elves, fairy tale characters and carollers passed along Chocolate, Cinnamon, Angel and Christmas Eve Streets, with the Three Kings, angels and saints looking down at them from high up the Angel Mill.
The Fair captivated both Tri-City visitors and locals, happiest to spend their winter time right here, looking for original ideas for gifts in festively decorated and illuminated wooden cottages, savouring delicacies from around the world, getting warmed up with hot chocolate, mulled beer with ginger and aromatic spicy mulled wine with oranges, served in collectable Christmas Fair-themed mugs.
Helping is beautiful so the Fair could not do without it either. Every year, a charity campaign was held for the Hospice Foundation.
Year by year, the Gdańsk Christmas Fair was rated better and better, and appreciated more and more. In 2019, it was the only such event in Poland to be nominated for the title of European Best Christmas Market 2020 and took third place!
